Julian, SocialSafe’s Chairman, was interviewed on Simon Mayo’s Radio 2 earlier today. They discussed Facebook’s latest service, Places, and what it means for our privacy and security.
Location mapping and tracking is very exciting – we can’t wait to add Places to SocialSafe v2.x so we can help you remember where you were on any given day. I’ll be posting a brief introduction to SocialSafe v2 later this week, but in summary the biggest single addition is a diary view that will in time be a collection of everything you did online, searchable, backed up and offline.
The main message from Julian’s interview was to be sensible when checking in anywhere irrespective of your privacy settings. Anything stored online could be found, maliciously or accidentally.
