I don’t know where this came from or what it is, but it looks like another Facebook virus or scam.

I just received a notification that a Facebook friend had mentioned me in a comment, so I clicked through to see the comment. The original status update from the friend – who in all honesty I haven’t seen since we were at school some seven years ago – was:

Wow!! do you remember this photo? http://photo-archives.com.aptg.bikxj.com/?s=gw

Beneath his update I can now count 10 comments from him, each of which is a block list of nine friends. A lot of the names I remember from school and are friends of mine but there is no way I’d have been in a photo with a lot of the names I’m seeing – they’re simply not people I know. There’s no other writing apart from the names.

So I go on to this guy’s profile, and see that the same post – albeit with a slightly different suffix to the photo-libraries.com URL – is there again, with another 10 comments, each containing nine mentions. A minute later, and another post in the same vein appears, only this time with just two comments.

A cursory glance at the number of friends he has and a quick brushing up of my 9 times tables confirmed that whatever this link is, has self-propagated itself until every one of his friends is mentioned in a post.

For obvious privacy reasons, I didn’t want to post a picture containing the names of around 200 people, so you’ll just have to take my word for it on this one.

Without clicking on the link to the photo, I have no idea what any of the other effects may be, but if you want to save all of your friends the bother of this, just avoid following any link or status that looks like the one mentioned above. There are also some scams doing the rounds that may not have reached your corner of the globe yet, so be aware of the Rihanna Sex Tape links, and an ‘offer’ for FREE Tesco Vouchers.
