SocialSafe v6.3 Now Released – Facebook Inbox Messages Backup + More

UPDATE 20/05/2015 – On the 1st May 2015 Facebook removed the ability to download Facebook Messages using it’s API. As such we are currently no longer able to download Facebook Messages for you.  We are looking into alternative approaches.

We are very pleased to announce the release of SocialSafe v6.3, a major upgrade including some bug fixes, performance enhancements and (drumroll please)… Backup of Facebook Messages!

We’re well aware that being able to download all of your private messages from Facebook has been a sought after feature for quite a while now, and we’re thrilled to finally be offering this to our Standard, Pro and Enterprise users. Just like the rest of the content  you back up, you can browse, search and export your Facebook Messages using SocialSafe.

Here’s how it looks in action:

To enable download of Facebook Messages, navigate to Profiles > Add/Edit > Sync Options and then tick the box. When you first back up your Facebook Inbox Messages, the initial run may take a little while depending on how many messages you have (in testing, the average download rate was around 700 messages per minute).

Or click here to watch a short video showing you how to download Facebook Messages.

For those of you that already use SocialSafe, your journal should automatically update to v6.3, but if this does not happen, then please click here. If you’d like to be able to back up your Facebook Messages but don’t currently use SocialSafe, or are only using the free version (available through our Facebook Page), you can purchase or upgrade to a Standard, Pro or Enterprise licence here.

Thank you all for your continued patience and support with this new feature – we know how much you all wanted it, but we were reluctant to release SocialSafe v6.3 until we knew we had a build that could support the large numbers of messages that some of you will have. If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment on this blog, post on our Facebook Page or contact us through the SocialSafe website.
