Facebook has admitted that last month it was targeted by hackers in what it describes as a “sophisticated attack”. The attack on Facebook was alleged to have taken place when employees visited the website of a mobile developer “that was compromised”.
While initial reports suggested that there was no evidence of any user data having been compromised, the FBI is now assisting Facebook with its probe into the malware attack, prompting speculation that personal information may have well have been exposed to the hackers.
In an earlier blog post on the matter, Facebook explained that it was not the only company affected:
“It is clear that others were attacked and infiltrated recently as well. As one of the first companies to discover this malware, we immediately took steps to start sharing details about the infiltration with the other companies and entities that were affected.”
While there is nothing that individual users can do to stop hackers from targeting Facebook and potentially stealing or destroying their data, they are able to mitigate the loss of any data in the case of a major breach.
With SocialSafe you can back up your Facebook profile information, wall posts, updates, photos albums, tagged photos, friend list and messages safely to your own PC or Mac, along with the comments, tags and likes. If you run a Facebook page as well, this can also be backed up in your SocialSafe journal, from which all your content can be browsed, searched and exported.
So whatever happens to Facebook, you don’t have to worry about your social library being lost, as your content is stored safely and securely offline.
Having read this I thought it was rather informative about Facebook Password Hack. I appreciate you finding the time and effort to put this information together. I once again find myself spending a significant amount of time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worth it!
