One of the most popular and most in demand features we’ve introduced within SocialSafe so far on our journey is the ability to download Facebook Messages. While this feature is available across all forms of SocialSafe, from the free trial to the 20 account version, the default setting is to not download Facebook Messages automatically.
It is not uncommon for average Facebook users to have tens of thousands of messages in their Inbox, so it can take a little while to download your entire message history when syncing a Facebook account for the fist time. In order to streamline the first sync process for new users as much as possible, we decided to leave this as an opt-in sync option.
So, here’s a short video showing you how to enable Facebook Message download within your SocialSafe journal:
As you can see, all you need to do is tick the ‘Messages’ box within the sync options for your Facebook account(s) from the Accounts screen within the app, and SocialSafe will download your Facebook Messages the next time you sync. If you think that you may have a rather large number messages in your inbox, then it may be an idea to leave your SocialSafe syncing overnight the first time you download Facebook Messages.
As with all other backed up content, each sync will only download the new items from your social networks, so after you sync your messages for the first time, each subsequent, incremental sync will be a lot quicker.
