Here at SocialSafe we’re very proud to announce that we’ve been picked out by the board of The Europas Awards as representing one of the best new early startups in Europe, and as such are nominated for a European Tech Startup Award. The TechCrunch Europas are the main European Awards for early stage Internet and Mobile technology startups, and nominees are selected annually by a combination of an expert Advisory Board and voting by the industry itself.
They were first held in 2009, and last year the ceremony took place in London in December. It was the culmination of a month of online voting by the European tech startup industry for the finalists, where some 33,126 votes were cast across 23 categories, eight judges deliberated over the results and over 350 people joined the cream of Europe’s startups, VCs and entrepreneurs.
This year, the competition is formidable, but we are very pleased to see that our Twitter and Facebook backup tool, SocialSafe, has been acknowledged, and you can vote for us in the “Best Social Platform or Networking Startup” category. Also in the running for an award is the SocialSafe chairman, Julian Ranger. He’s in the “Best Angel or Seed Investor of the Year”, and you can vote for both Julian and SocialSafe in The Europas Awards on TechCrunch.
The results of the vote will narrow the field, and from there the final finalists will go to the Europas Awards ceremony on November 17th in London. Not only do the winners get the prestige of having been voted and judged to be best in their field, pan-European VC DFJ Esprit is to offer a £50,000 convertible loan to the Grand Prix winner of The Europas Tech Startup Awards.
