Sequel To ‘Take This Lollipop’ Being Funded On Kickstarter

One of the biggest viral sensations to hit Facebook last year was the ‘Take This Lollipop‘ app. Users would grant the app permission to access various parts of their profile, and then sit back in horror as they watched a video of a rather seedy looking man logging into their own account and rifling through their photos, wall posts etc and generally being very stalkerish. Pretty sinister stuff. Of course it was all just some clever coding, but it got people’s attention with regards to online privacy.

Launched in October 2011, the app has been viewed by more than 100 million people, and has accrued more 13 million ‘Likes’. The campaign also won a Daytime Emmy Award and was the inspiration for several over advertising and awareness campaigns. At the time, the man behind the app told Mashable that he designed it as a “social experiment”.

Well, the news this week is that a sequel to Take This Lollipop is in the works. Jason Zada, the man also behind the Yuletide hit ‘Elf Yourself’ is back in the driving seat, and has started pitching for investment on Kickstarter. There is no word on the actual plot for the app, but Zada has said “The storyline for Lollipop 2 is highly guarded, but we can guarantee that it will be a much more intense experience that the first.”

So how can Zada top the original Take This Lollipop with his second instalment? If I’m being honest, the first one made me feel pretty uneasy as I watched some psycho login to my Facebook account, so I’m mildly scared about what he has in store for us with the sequel.

Do you have any ideas as to what he might have up his sleeve? What would really scare you? We’d love to hear your suggestions, so please leave a comment below.
